Born of Nigerian and British heritage, SuAndi has been a performance poet since 1985 and in more recent years has also worked in Live Art, touring and lecturing nationally and internationally.

SuAndi serves as Voluntary Co-ordinator of the Black Arts Alliance in the North West of England. She has since worked alongside an incredible array of poets and writers.

SuAndi’s creative skills stretch beyond that of a writer of poetry and prose. She has to her credit, written articles on Black art, book reviews, a personal statement on the Image Employed Exhibition (Cornerhouse) and the catalogue for Once Upon A Time (Rochdale 1988). She is also a teacher of Jazz Ballet, and coordinated and performed in Revelations of Black at the Royal Exchange Theatre for the Manchester Festival. Outside of this, she finds time to organise and run writing workshops in schools, community centres and art galleries.

SuAndi’s performances have included work on Channel 4 and three spoken word recordings; Mother Country, Soliloquy and Homelands. Her publications include Nearly 40, Style, There will be no tears, I Love the Blackness of My People and work in several magazines and anthologies. She also has public art commissions at The Lowry Centre, Manchester and The Prom, Blackpool.

SuAndi is a former recipient of the Calouste Gulbenkian New Horizons Grant and the Winston Churchill Fellowship, and a member of the Institute of Directors, British Equity, a Director of the North West Arts Board and serves on the board of Akwaaba Pan European Network. Her work was recognised with an O.B.E. in the Queen's New Year Honour's List.

"SuAndi speaks with authoritative eloquence in a show that looks at biographical matters most people are often too afraid to examine. Her style is refined and it is with more than a little embarrassment that I confess to having not seen her perform before now." - Manchester Evening News
