BBC3 TV poetry slam champion 2004/world poetry slam champion 2005. A well-known performance poet on the London Poetry scene. Resident poet at The Theatre Royal, Stratford East, London, where she hosts and organises monthly poetry and music nights, WORD4WORD and WORD4WORD SLAM.

A regular performer on BBC radio, Kat has released a spoken word CD entitled BLESSED BY WORDS and is published in a number of poetry magazines and anthologies. Her first written collection of poetry RHYME AND REASON was published in February 2008.

SEVEN TIMES ME a solo theatre show written and performed by Kat Francois, which has toured show nationally and internationally, including the Edinburgh fringe festival 2007 and the Adelaide Fringe festival, Australia 2008. She has travelled extensively as a performance poet including Canada, Germany, Jerusalem, Sweden, Rome, Belfast, Derry, Galway Mumbai and Italy. She has performed at the Latitude festival two years running and co-hosted the poetry tent at Glastonbury in 2008 and will be co-hosting again in 2009.

Kat Francois is currently working on her second one-woman play RAISING LAZARUS, charting the true story of a relative who died fighting for Britain during the First World War.  She is also about to release a second edition of RHYME and Reason, her poetry book, has a poetry CD to be released at the end of the year and is working on a poetry style graphic novel. She has also written a four hand play which deals with domestic violence, which is in the research and development stage.

She continues to work with young people, run her monthly night at the Theatre Royal, Stratford East, and performs and hosts regularly. She is a dynamic and confident performer, known for her upfront an storytelling style.


Writer, trainer, performer and poet. Kat combines her extensive experience in youth work (including children with disabilities as well as learning and behavioural problems) with her writing talent to create interactive issue-based workshops. She uses games and role-play to engage students, and brings her dance background into play by introducing movement where appropriate. Kat also has written and co-directed a short film that deals with cultural awareness issues and could use this film to generate discussion.
